rode 53 miles. really nice ride but within the first 5 miles or so, got stopped by wildlife officers. they had already stopped about 5 riders & we were the next 3 coming by. as officers left, one of the gents stopped me. He proceeded to tell me that he got a year long permit from the campground at royal blue to ride all the trails. presenting his permit to the officers, come to find out that he had only half a permit. he needed the stickers to be running the WMA side of the trail. he was told at the campground that his permit covered all the trail riding. i later seen his son at the hotel we were staying at and after talking some more with him, he said the citations that he got cost him 630.00. 210 a piece. there was 3 of them. 10.00 covered the portion they didn't have & the other 200.00 was for court. The dad told me he now had to go to court on the 17th. He lived in Nashville. I later had seen the officers & told them that the guy was upset because he requested for the permit to ride all the trails for the whole year & went off what they told him at Royal Blue campground. the one office spoke up & said he should have got on line & researched it. i guess, "ignorance is no excuse"? where i had confronted the officers at, there was some gents from Kentucky & as they were telling the officers what the lady at Royal Blue told them as far as costs of permits, the officers said they had no clue what the lady at campground was quoting them. One would think with a business at Royal Blue Campground, they would have the correct info needed for customers to ride trails? Just a heads up. one never knows when the wildlife officers will be there checking permits, so make sure you have all the correct permits.
