I was on Doe Mtn yesterday and saw new trail signs installed. There are the official looking brown posts with trail numbers on them, and I also saw some "less official" signs up in the trees with arrows pointing to roads like "Rabbit Hollow" & "Little Doe".
It was good to see the progress. I'm looking forward to the next Mtn City meeting.

I am a new member to the Mountain Trail Riders club. I am anxious to ride Doe Mountain. Are the existing trails open and if so, are there GPS coordinates for the trail head or specific address? I have never been there and am not sure about directions. I live in Johnson City.
Thanks, Travis

The article answered a lot of questions. It's great to know the Board is finalized and has had their first meeting.
Hopefully the winter will be mild and trail clearing & construction will begin.

The Doe Mountain Trail Authority met last month and since this was our first meeting there was a lot of house keeping to do. The real work has started and there will be a lot more to post after the meeting Dec 18th.
At the December meeting we are going to see the mapping that has been completed to date by Texas Tech. I am pretty excited about this mapping. I understand it has been done with slope software which means that it will give ideas of where trails can be built that can be sustained easily.
We are also going to be viewing pictures of the trails (roads) that we have open now in preparation for our "soft" opening in Mar/April. We have a lot to accomplish to get ready for this opening and we will keep you posted on how to help. A big thanks to the inmates from the prison that have already started boxing some trails out.
Another thing is i want to thank everyone for keeping the mountain clean. We OHV riders catch a lot of grief about trash. I have never seen much trash on the trails and again thanks for "packin it out"
Mike
