FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Statement from Rep. Matthew Hill on Devastation in Upper East Tennessee
(April 28, 2011, NASHVILLE) – Representative Matthew Hill (R—Jonesborough) released the following statement regarding yesterday’s storms that caused so much damage in Washington County:
“Even though we were prepared for the storms, I don’t think anyone could imagine the level of devastation we are witnessing in Washington County and all of East Tennessee.
“I have been in constant contact with Washington County Mayor Dan Eldridge about what resources our community needs to recover from this event. I also have spoken with Governor Haslam and other officials in the Administration so they have the most up-to-date information about Upper East Tennessee.
“My family and I join the Governor and other State leaders in praying for the families who are dealing with this tragedy. I will be surveying the damage tomorrow with local officials and pledge to do all I can to help those citizens affected recover and rebuild their lives. It is a long road to recovery but I am confident we will rebound stronger than ever.”
Residents of Washington County who have been affected by the storms and need help can call Rep. Hill’s office for help. The number is 1.800.449.8366 ext. 12251.
